A one-off motorbike, and an extraordinary day at Bonhams
Some days still take our breath away. On 11 October, at Bonhams' Autumn Stafford Sale, a one-off motorbike called Dark Rider went under the hammer in aid of the Foundation — and sold for £210,000.
Dark Rider is no ordinary bike. It's a custom machine inspired by Shadow the Hedgehog, built on a 2000 Bourget 1,750cc for Sega's 2026 Fearless: Year of Shadow campaign, with Oil Sweat & Gears and Atmospherics SFX. Sega gave it to us to sell — and the generosity didn't stop there. The Bonhams catalogue and result record the £210,000 price, and Bonhams waived their buyer's premium on the lot because it was for charity.
It wasn't only the bike, either. RST donated a custom V4.2 Kangaroo Leather race suit and matching gloves, and HJC donated a Shadow helmet, all part of the same lot. (The bike was built for display rather than the road, as the catalogue was careful to point out.)
We're still a little lost for words, honestly. Thank you to Sega, to Bonhams, to RST and HJC, and to everyone who helped make that day happen — all of it for the children and families we're here for.
Sylvain shared his own thoughts about the auction too.
